Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs
Q1. Is the WorkLife ToolkitTM Y2K compliant?
A. The WorkLife ToolkitTM is written entirely in software from Macromedia, Inc.(www.macromedia.com) so we are quoting from their statement in regard to this issue:
|
Year 2000 Product "Compliance" We periodically hear concerns from users about the effect of entering a two digit number in excess of 99 to represent a year later than 1999. Some have used the term "compliance" to indicate that the application will regard the entry of a number 00 as the year 2000 and numbers greater than 00 as years beyond 2000. Some applications written years ago, especially for mainframe computer systems, assumed that the first two numbers of a two-digit year entry were "19" so that, for example, an entry of "00" would be interpreted as 1900. Macromedia's software products, however, obtain their date information, such as creation dates and modification dates, from the computer's operating system. Thus, the current versions of Macromedia's products are as "compliant" as the operating systems upon which they run. Microsoft and Apple have stated on their web sites that their products will continue to operate properly into the twenty-first century. If you have questions as to whether the computer operating system or version of the computer operating system you are using is "compliant," please refer to the operating system manufacturer's web sites (e.g., www.apple.com, www.microsoft.com). Q1.What type of computer do I need to run the WorkLife Toolkit® CD-ROM?
A. Either a 486 - 66MHHZ(or faster) PC with Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, or a MacIntosh with System 7.1 (or higher).
Q2. How much memory will I need?

A. No. A basic 640x480 color display will work.
Q4. What other hardware do I need?
A. The hardware requirements are minimal, and most people have what it takes:

2. With a PC you will also need a Soundblaster compatible sound card and a speaker to hear the audio portion of the ToolKit, but the program will run without them (you just wont hear any of the narration).
3. For both PCs and Macs a printer will enhance your experience by allowing you to print the various forms, letters, surveys, and reports that are included in the ToolKit.
Q5. What other software do I need?
A. The software requirements are:
1. For both PCs and Macs, you will need QuickTime video software to play one section of the program. We have included a version for you to download if you dont have it.
2. If you want to customize any of the documents or tools included in the WorkLife Toolkit® you will need a word processing program.
Q6. I cant seem to make the QuickTime program work on my computer. Can I still use the ToolKit?
A. Yes. Although you will not be able to view the "Welcome" section, the other 99% of the program will run.
Q7. Can I install the ToolKit on more than one computer?
A. Only if you have a multiple use license or a LAN license. The basic license to use the WorkLife Toolkit® allows only one computer to use it.
Q8. Can we install the WorkLife Toolkit® on a network?
A. Only if you have a dedicated access capability that allows only one user to have access to it.
Q9. What if we want more than one computer user to have access to the WorkLife Toolkit® ?
A. You can purchase multiple copies or contact us for a special network license allowing multiple users. These are available with special prices.
Q10. I tried to run the WorkLife Toolkit®, but I got an error message about the CD-ROM.
A. You probably tried to start the program without having the WorkLife Toolkit® CD-ROM in the correct drive. The program will not run without the CD-ROM in the drive.
